ROOM / 01

Vortex Tunnel

A rotating visual surround can make a stationary walkway feel unstable. Take it at your own pace and follow staff instructions.

ROOM / 02

Tilted Room

Familiar ideas about level floors and upright bodies become unreliable. Look at the room from different positions to see the perspective effect.

ROOM / 03

Upside-down Room

Plan a pose, frame the scene and compare the result with what you saw in the room. The camera angle becomes part of the illusion.

INSTALLATION / 04

Clone Table

Mirrors turn a seat at the table into a gathering of your own reflections. Try changing your pose and notice how the scene repeats.

INSTALLATION / 05

Beuchet Chair

An arrangement of objects changes how the size of a person appears. Compare the view from the intended viewpoint with a different angle.

IMAGES / 06

Holograms & optical illusions

Look closely, then shift your viewpoint. These displays invite you to question depth, shape and what your eyes seem to tell you.

Exhibit limits and practical choices

The museum confirms the Vortex Tunnel, Tilted Room and Reversed Room in its room guide. The advice below is our visitor guidance, not a published medical or admission rule.

  • Vortex Tunnel: ask staff to explain the route before entering. Use the handrail; if the effect feels uncomfortable, stop and ask for an alternative.
  • Tilted Room: ask about the floor and access before trying a pose. Do not assume a pushchair or wheelchair can use every position.
  • Reversed Room and perspective installations: use the designated positions. Do not climb or move props without permission.
  • Children and photographs: stay together, take turns and keep walkways clear. Ask staff about age/height limits and current exhibit closures on the day.
